FOOD ALLERGY Clinical Value of Component-Resolved Diagnostics in Peanut-Allergic Patients

چکیده
METHODS. The Auvi-Q and EpiPen were evaluated by each participant in a randomly assigned order. Participantswere given a scenario that involved anaphylaxis and were instructed to simulate the use of each device using trainers that did not have a needle or contain epinephrine. Subjects were expected to perform the device test by relying on the labeling and/or voice instruction or intuition to perform the simulated injection correctly. They could not communicate with proctors before or during the test and were not given patient information leaflets. After testing both devices, participants completed a survey to indicate their preference for Auvi-Q versus EpiPen.

Allergy or tolerance in children sensitized to peanut: prevalence and differentiation using component-resolved diagnostics.
BACKGROUND Not all peanut-sensitized children develop allergic reactions on exposure. OBJECTIVE To establish by oral food challenge the proportion of children with clinical peanut allergy among those considered peanut-sensitized by using skin prick tests and/or IgE measurement, and to investigate whether component-resolved diagnostics using microarray could differentiate peanut allergy from t...
متن کاملUtility of Specific IgE to Ara h 2 in Italian Allergic and Tolerant Children Sensitized to Peanut
Emerging data suggest that measurement of serum IgE to peanut components can be clinically helpful and more accurate than IgE to whole peanut to predict peanut allergy. Not all studies have used prospective samples, multiple components and oral challenges. Currently, there are no data on this topic involving Italian children. 32 patients (23 males; median age 9 years) with reported history for ...
متن کاملClinical value of component-resolved diagnostics in peanut-allergic patients.
INTRODUCTION As replacement for the oral food challenge, decision-points for sensitization test have been established, but suboptimal sensitivity and/or specificity, as well as regional differences, have reduced the clinical usability. IgE toward specific peanut protein components has been reported to be of value, but data on correlation with clinical data are sparse. Our aim was to correlate I...
متن کاملThe diagnostic value of component-resolved diagnostics in peanut allergy in children attending a Regional Paediatric Allergology Clinic
BACKGROUND To date, diagnosing food allergies in children still presents a diagnostic dilemma, leading to uncertainty concerning the definite diagnosis of peanut allergy, as well as to the need for strict diets and the potential need for adrenalin auto-injectors. This uncertainty in particular is thought to contribute to a lower quality of life. In the diagnostic process double-blind food chall...
متن کاملUsing Component-Resolved Diagnostics in the Management of Peanut-Allergic Patients
Instead of relying on crude peanut extract, component-resolved diagnostics (CRD) uses sensitization to allergenic proteins within peanut. In this review, we describe the recent advances and future perspectives of the use of CRD in the management of peanut-allergic patients. There is strong evidence that sensitization to Ara h 2 is the best predictor for clinically relevant peanut allergy in chi...
